:clipboard: Technical Description Paper (TDP)

Now ”Technical Description Paper (TDP)” is ready. This year, all teams are required to submit two kinds of documents. One is a TDP which is described in the rules, and another is a “Team Blurb Slide” which is expected to work as kind of a communication tool between participants. A submission deadline is described as " three weeks before" in the rules, the date has already passed through though. Hence, we re-set a new deadline, 12th June. We would kindly ask all participating teams to keep this deadline.

There are two methods for submitting TDP, via web form (Google forms) and email. Teams can choose an easy way for themselves.

A. Submission from a web form

This form is made with Google forms. Google asks us to log in, since sending any files via Google forms is limited to a person who has a Google account. If it is not useful for your team, please send TDP via email.

  1. Please download a standard format (template) of ”Team Blurb” and edit with your team’s data before submitting TDP. There are three sheets in this template. First one is main team blurb, second is for additional photos and movies, and last is a sample. The first slide is enough if you don’t need additional photos. This team profile slide will be gathered into one file with all participating teams, so please make your team slide not too long. Once complete editing, please save the slide with your team name.

  2. Additionally, teams can attach some photos and/or documents to TDP. Please prepare attachments before accessing a TDP form. The size of attachments is maximum 10 MB in total, and the contents should be fitted within five pages by A4 size paper.

  3. The TDP form is here. Please access TDP after complete preparing attachments mentioned above.

B. Send by attaching with an email

Teams can submit TDP by email. Be sure to enclose Team Blurb (and attachments as necessary) when sending TDP.

:bangbang: Way of thinking about the rules

1. Regarding the use of batteries :battery:

We, OnStage OC, decided the policy about the use of batteries in this year as follows:

  1. Regarding batteries, obey what is stated in Rule 1.3.4.

1.3.4. Under no circumstances, will mains electricity should be equipped with some sort of battery. Lead acid batteries are not suitable unless the team has gained permission before attending the competition from the Technical Committee for a specific reason.

  1. As for lead-acid rechargeable batteries, only for the sealed type will be permitted. Teams are responsible for shipping batteries, bringing them to the venue, and disposing of them.

  2. As for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, teams are responsible for shipping batteries, bringing them to the venue, and disposing of them. Additionally, teams should not use deformed or unusually fevering batteries. When charging at the venue, use the appropriate charger with measures against overcharge prevention.

2. Drones or flying robots :helicopter:

3. Use of wireless communication :satellite:

4. Human-robot interaction :robot:

Hello,
We have two questions concerning this new update on the deadline of the TDP submission:
1)Does this new deadline (12th June) covers both the TDP and the “Team Blurb Slide”?
2)Could you explain a little more about the Team Blurb Slide?
Thank you!
Mo42.

Hi Mo42,

Thank you for your question.

  1. Yes, the deadline is for both is 12th June. Please send TDP and the Team Blurb Slide at the same time.

  2. This team blurb slide is a quick introduction tool to know each other between participating teams and also to introduce toward audiences. Every team blurb slides will be gathered into one file and project to the background wall while interval times of competitions. We hope those slides give participants the opportunity to communicate and collaborate more actively.
We also expect that all teams respect each other and grow their friendship throughout this competition as mentioned in rule 7, Code of conduct.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Shoko
