Reliability and Exit Bonuses

I have a question about what is the difference between those two bonuses. Do they both add up to the total score for each round or how do they work?

Best regards,

Juan Torres - RC Polaris.

Hi @juan.torresf!

The Exit Bonus is awarded when your robot navigates the maze (it doesn’t need to explore the entire maze), finds the starting tile where it began, stops there for 10 seconds, and blinks its LED, completing the run. In this case, the robot earns 10 points for each identified victim.

The Reliability Bonus is always awarded at the end of the run. The aim here is for the robot to complete the run with as few Lack of Progress as possible. The formula is as follows:
(Number of successfully identified victims x 10 points) + (Number of successfully deployed rescue kits x 10 points) - (Number of Lack of Progress x 10 points)

For example, if your robot successfully identifies 8 victims, deploys 10 rescue kits, had Lack of Progress 3 times, but manages to return to the starting point to claim the Exit Bonus, the bonus points will be calculated as follows:

Exit Bonus: 8 x 10 = 80 points
Reliability Bonus: 8 x 10 + 10 x 10 - 3 x 10 = 150 points

Hi! Just a quick heads-up
There seems to be a mismatch between your explanation and what’s written in the rules summary section.
The summary section says:

“If the robot can find its way back to the beginning of the maze after exploring the whole maze, it will receive an exit bonus.”

Could you clarify which one is correct? And if your explanation reflects the intended rule, would it be possible to update the rules to avoid confusion?

Thanks!

Hi @FedericoManiglio

You’re right, the Summary section of the rules indeed states that the robot must explore the entire maze. Unfortunately, we did not modify this, sorry for the confusion.

The correct statement is that robot is not required to explore the entire maze in order to receive the exit bonus.

Please refer to the details described in Section 5.6.11. which states the following:
“Successful Exit Bonus. A robot is awarded 10 points for each victim successfully identified. The ‘exitbonus’ condition is satisfied when the robot returns to the starting tile. On the starting tile, the robot has to blink (ON: 1s, OFF: 1s) with the same LED or display that is used to identify a victim (see Section 4.3, ‘Construction’) for at least 10 seconds.”
