I have a question regarding communication protocols. Is it allowed to use the WiFi protocol in a local network, staying within the 2.4 GHz band and a transmission power not exceeding 100 mW EIRP (as per the regulations established for 2025)? It is important to note that this protocol will not be used to control any motors or enable any critical functions but solely to display a window with the robot’s status, within a very small space, without being connected to the internet at any time.
OnStage explicitly encourages the use of wireless technologies in the rules and 2.4G WiFi has finally made that list. Just be aware that RoboCup competitions frequently have very busy 2.4GHz environments (many mobile phone hotspots, other WiFi networks, few available channels and so on) so you have to anticipate that you will not be able to get same performance out of your WiFi connections as in your lab/testing environment.
Best Regards
