M5stack and huskylens camera?

Hi everyone, we are very new to the tournament. We plan to use a M5stack platform - would that be sufficient for robocup jr rescueline in your experiences? And may I use a huskylens camera on it? Really appreicate your answer.

Thanks,

Leo

Hi Leo,

  • M5Stack: yes, it can be a fine controller/platform for Rescue Line as long as the robot design/programming are primarily and substantially the students’ own work (i.e., it’s not a “ready-made Rescue task solver” kit/module).
  • HuskyLens: please be careful — devices marketed as AI cameras / “task-solver” vision modules can fall under the same type of restriction as the older “prohibited tools” examples (which explicitly listed AI cameras as prohibited when they can complete a task/part of a task without further student development).

M5Stack has at least two cameras UnitV (MaixPy uPython env) and UnitV2 (Linux env) which can be programmed by the team without using pre-designed AI algorithms, contradictory to the Huskylens which is all “AI”.
