At the tournament in Salvador this year the kicker power limit effectively increased a good bit because the back walls of the goals absorbed a bit more of the balls impulse than on many other fields. As a solution we’ve heard the suggestion of kicking against the field wall instead of the goals back wall.
Can anyone try this? How does it interact with the ramps on the field wall? Do you think that would be an improvement or should we just accept the variance as it is?
I find the idea interresting, because our goals in Vöhringen absorb a lot of the energy, because they are made out of plastic and rubber (which we intend to change for 2027).
From playing with the ball and the robots a fair bit the last years, I know that the ball jumps up and comes flying back, depending on the strength of the kicker.
I personally don’t see that much of an issue with the differences in kicker strength, as long as it doesn’t allow teams to destroy the ball, at which point you as an organizer can just adjust the rules.
