Can we change or replace pushing/multiple defense? #soccer-rules-2026

Pushing and multiple defense are some of the most important but also easiest to get wrong rules in RCJ Soccer. So we thought of a number of possible things to replace them with. Think through the consequences of changing them in small or big ways with us and maybe we can come up with something that improves the game. Put even your craziest ideas out here (we certainly have some crazy ones), maybe we can assemble something that works from multiple of them.

This topic is closely related to this topic: Improving gameplay (by slowing down?) #soccer-rules-2026

Note: I’ll collect the main arguments from previous years here below soon™.

Hi everyone,
maybe this will sound crazy, but at the moment it’s the only solution that comes to my mind for this problem. What if every pushing action were penalized by stopping the robot that committed the pushing for 30 seconds(or some other number)? That would force teams to deal with the pushing problem, maybe even encourage them to avoid other robots, and it would surely lead to new tactics that could change the league from the ground up. Additionally, the robot that committed the pushing would remain in place, potentially blocking its own team in front of the opponent’s goal and making it harder for them to score.
