Hi
according to the rules, black tile can be placed anywhere in the field. will you place black tile exactly after stairs?
Regards Joachim
Hi @Joachim,
If your question is whether this will be a common occurrence, I can confidently say no. However, as you mention, rules do not forbid this from happening, so it is a possibility.

Hello everyone,
I came across this post and had some thoughts.
Am I the only one wondering if it’s actually possible to score points on a ramp with a black tile behind it? Also, would it even be possible to have a black tile behind a staircase?
Even though @Matej mentioned that this wouldn’t be a common occurrence, I can’t quite grasp the logic behind it. Why would navigating up a ramp and then having to go back down immediately make sense? As far as I understand, you wouldn’t get any points for this situation.
Here’s why:
Rule 4.6.8 (2024 MazeRules final) states:
“Successful Up or Down Ramp Navigation. A robot is awarded 10 points for successfully navigating up or down a ramp (i.e., the robot can score a maximum of 10 points per ramp). The robot has successfully navigated through the ramp when it moves from the bottom to the top tile (or vice versa) and is entirely within the horizontal tile without toppling over.”
Since you can’t reach the top tile (it would result in a Lack of Progress because you’d need to have your robot on the top tile, which is more than the half needed to cause a LOP), it is impossible to earn any points, right?
Or am I misunderstanding the purpose of this setup entirely?
I’d love to hear other perspectives or clarifications on this rule. Thanks in advance!
