About Intro League of kits Company

Hello,

I have a question about Intro League.
Why we can only use the official Lego or Fishertechnik kits on Intro League?

On the last year’s Final Rules(2020), I found " The robots should be created from a commercial robot kit(s) widely available in a specific region, "
It was changed that sentence from Draft Rules(2020).

Why don’t you use that sentence on the Final Rules(2020)?
It is a more fitting sentence for our needs.
Could you check that sentence?

9.5 Intro League (2021Final)
The robots should be created from official Lego or Fishertechnik kits,

10.6 Intro League (2020 Final)
The robots should be created from a commercial robot kit(s) widely available in a specific region,

Best Regards,
Misty K

Hello,

I agree with Misty K.
The rules should not promote certain a commercial robot kit(s).
This is more correct wording:
“The robots should be created from a commercial robot kit(s) widely available in a specific region”

Best wishes,
Sergei Kosachenko

Hello, @MistyK.

The rules of the international competition do not mention commercial brands. (see them here: https://junior.robocup.org/soccer/ )

Are you referring to rules for a specific region?

Felipe.

Dear @MistyK and @Kosachenkosv,

Now I understand what you are referring to. Sorry I misunderstood it before.

Indeed, page 24 of the Final Rules (as of October 10, 2020) mentions Lego or Fishertechnik kits. But, this is only a suggestion for the regions that want to create an Intro League. This is clearly stated in the last sentence of 9.5.1, which reads:

“Each regional and super-regional competition will likely have its specific rules for the rules but the TC would like to suggest they contain the following:”

So, the statements in 9.5.1 are suggestions for Intro League rules. Regions might have different rules, as shown in the examples linked on 9.5.2. For instance, the Australian competition has two Lightweight categories: open, that allows for any type of robots, and standard, which requires Lego robots. Therefore, for regional competitions, it is important that you follow the regional rules.

I hope this is clearer now. If you still have questions, please let us know.

Regards,
Felipe.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Now, I understood that phrase is not the rules just the suggestion " The robots should be created from official Lego or Fishertechnik kits.".

I think it is the rules because you used the word “should”.
It is in friendly phrase 2020 Final Rules more than 2021 Final Rules.
I found out that the TC would respect the rules of each regional and super-regional competition.

Thank you very much for the gracious reply.

Best regards,
Misty K

Thank you, @MistyK
We will take your comment into account when preparing the next version of the rules.
Best regards,
Felipe.

Dear @Felipe,

Your clarification of the rules has improved the understanding of the opinion of the TC.

Thank you very much for your comment.

Best regards,
Sergei Kosachenko.
