Before reviewing these changes, please take a look at this other post that discusses the RCJ Rescue rule changes that also applies to RCJ Rescue Simulation. Here are the specific Simulation changes for the 2025 rules:
RULE CHANGES
D.1) Competition Model Update
We are aiming to run the competition using a Docker-based model instead of the previous server-client architecture. The official documentation will be updated to reflect these changes at a later date. At the moment, the dev team is running multiple tests for this Docker solution and we would like the teams to start preparing to accommodate this change as soon as possible.
D.2) Victim Rotation
Victims are now able to be rotated.
Please let us know your feedback as soon as possible as we want to release the official final rules in the upcoming months.
Best,
Diego Garza Rodriguez on behalf of the 2025 RCJ Rescue Committee
Hello RCJ Rescue Committee
Here’s my opinion on the Rescue Simulation Rules.
In Rescue Simulation 2024 Rules
2.5.2 Silver tiles will be placed randomly throughout the field.
I think this expression is incorrect.
The silver tiles are not placed randomly.
They are placed exactly as designed by the field designer.
What do you think?
Hi PeterParker!
We are finishing some tests to define the docker image that we will provide you with. At that time we will put together tutorials to be able to implement it on Linux, MacOS and Windows. In the meantime, you can check out some ideas at https://github.com/robocup-junior/erebus-dockerfiles.
Regarding the release of the rules, when we finish the feedback period we will release a draft version.
Hi Masa!
The idea of randomness refers to the fact that there is no defined rule for how the silver tiles are placed. The same term is applied in rule 2.6 which refers to swamps, obstacles and holes. These are also defined at the time of the map design.
Hello Gonzalo
Thanks for the answer.
I understood from your answer.
However, since English is not our native language, the word ‘random’ often makes us think of dice. We believe that a sentence like this would avoid any confusion: ‘Silver tiles can be placed anywhere on the field.’
