My team and I were wondering if we can place our checkpoints where we want, or do they have to be placed on the same tiles as in the drawings provided foe each level.

If you are talking about the pre-recording video for RoboCupJunior2021, you should follow the field designs document completely. It means you can’t place the check points where you want.
